Picking up a scattering of Poems

By CBramkamp creative writing, Poetry Comments Off on Picking up a scattering of Poems

Last month was National Poetry Month, and April was indeed, cruel.  How did your poetry projects go?   Do you now have a collection of thirty or so poems?  Did you scribble them down in a special notebook?
And more important, what do we do now?   Can poems be matched and mated  like socks?  Do they get lost in the dryer of revision? Do you ever worry that brilliance cannot be edited?    We sometimes worry that our thoughts are so original, so HOT  that we can’t afford to modify a single one of them with irreparably damaging the essential poem. Every word is precious  But the more you write, the most collected words you have, the easier it is to throw out the bad ones because you have so many more backed up, ready to go.  That is why projects like writing a poem a day for a month are so wonderful.
You have enough poems to match, enough poems to waste a few.  Enough poems to gather into a collection and start taking over the world.
Feels great doesn’t it?
