One of my students commented that he did not have a favorite book, he didn’t really read. So he supposed his favorite book was Caps for Sale. The student did not remember the book because he was fond of the story of the cap salesman who walked through town wearing his checked and red caps piled on his head. And he didn’t recall the story because the monkeys in the trees were amusing. He remembered the story because his grandmother read the book to him, and he still remembered how it felt to sit close to his grandmother and have all her attention.
Books are powerful things. the moments spent with books are powerful moments.
A gentle reminder when you are feeling discouraged. Keep writing; it matters.
