13 Old words that were new in the 17th Century.

We love word of the week in Newbie Writers Podcast, so here is a long list of them, courtesy of Shakespeare who may or may not have been a committee.

There are many scholars and probably your own teachers who hyperventilate at any “new” words. They are dead set against LOL in a sentence, they subscribe to the French insistence that language should be protected behind a barrier of regulations to maintain it’s purity.

But that’s not terribly fun, nor is it realistic.  Poets will always push the boundaries, social interaction, on all levels, will automatically create a new word   to fit a new circumstance.  Technology demands new words but in describing the technology and in defining our reactions to it.

So enjoy what Shakespeare invented, and in the spirit of creativity, create some new words of your own.
